5* On The Dead Sea
Sometimes life can feel so crazy, we feel undervalued, doing the job of two parents! working very hard, where is the time to even brush our hair, let alone relax…? So I decided to treat myself to a mini adventure to Jordan to see Petra, and to also spoil myself at the Crowne Plaza – Dead Sea Resort for the whole weekend for a 5* on the Dead Sea.
Adventure Time!
I was so excited to begin this trip, I took the Taxi from my hotel in Amman a few hours drive to the Dead Sea, I saw beautiful vast desert along the way. When the car pulled up to the gates of the Crowne Plaza it was security checked, once given the all clear I proceeded into the large lobby to book my stay. I was warmly greeted by the staff at reception who kindly upgraded my room to a sea-view for free, I had all my meals and drinks included plus the Thalgo Spa and non-alcoholic mini bar with snacks… All for Free! (I didn’t have my website then so it wasn’t because of that). Once I was shown to my beautiful abode I smiled so much to find this as my view for the next few days.
Beautifully arranged bed; actually my dress matched it so well!
The beach was immaculately clean and all the grounds were so well maintained, the hotel complex had a lovely Spa called Thalgo, the pool, sauna and steam rooms were free to use as part of the free upgraded package, it also included all my meals, they had great food which was like the best home made food I had tasted in a long while! I spent the next few days relaxing by swimming and wondering the beach in search of salt crystals and turquoise coloured rocks. It was really amazing to float in the Dead Sea, I could literarily just lay there and drift with the calm warm current for ages with the sun shining on my face. The was peace, this was my 5* on the Dead Sea.
The best way to swim in this really salty water is backwards, this way you won’t get salt in your eyes, It happened once and it was the worst feeling my eyes had ever experienced. Some people were covering themselves top to toe in the mineral rich mud that accumulates in some areas of the beach which is really beneficial for the skin.

The Beach was full of salt covered rocks and sticks, it was really cool to see this, I found some nice coloured stones I kept to bring back home to show Josh he later used them at school for show and tell. The whole beach was privately owned by the hotel complex which meant it wasn’t busy and very safe. There are a few life guards around patrolling, there are limits set after sundown where guests are not allowed to venture into the water, which for safety is understandable.
