We’re really excited you’re here and if you love travel or want to get started with your children or family you’ll feel right at home as we have so much to share and tell you about the wonderful adventures we’ve had. From inspiration to advice, tips and tricks on each article, to show you that whether you’re a single parent, have a full time job or other commitments we want to create a supportive community of single parent travellers and make those dreams come true one trip at a time.
Our story goes way back to 2013 when me and Joshua took our first solo trip to the Peruvian Amazon Jungle where we flew to the northern most territory bordering Brazil to Iquitos where we spotted 3 toed sloth, pink Amazonian dolphins, macaws, monkeys and manatees. We ventured deep into the Pacaya Samiria National Park and stayed on an eco lodge on the Amazon river. We made the epic trip of a lifetime to see Machu Picchu formed by the ancient Inca Empire to Cusco and not forgetting sailing to Uros island on Lake Titicaca and that’s when Single Mum Travels took off.
I wanted to write and share my experiences of travel to others who were, like me, wanting to travel more after having children.
We’ve visited the ancient ruins of Petra in Jordan and the famous dead sea. We’ve ventured into to Omani desert, the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow, Auschwitz in Poland and the joys of Disneyland in Paris.
Our most recent trip was a pretty long one where we spent over 4 solid months around Asia starting in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia where we jetted off to the beaches of Southern Thailand in the Andaman sea from Railay beach to Koh Lanta then up North to Chiang Mai and even Chiang Rai where we saw Elephants roam free and monks chanting in temples.
Next we flew to Vietnam where we landed in Hanoi which was quite chilly by even our British standards, from Hanoi we took yet another trip of a lifetime to Halong Bay where the limestone rock forms hundreds of tiny islands. Our next stop in Vietnam was Saigon or some call HCMH then off to the Mekong Delta and not ending there but on further south to Phu Quoc island where the sand was white and the waters where warm once again.
After 3 months on the road we decided to head further south to Indonesia to the island of Lombok and beaches in the south such as Muwan and Salong Belanak where we tried out surfing for the first time, next we headed to the tropical paradise of the Gili Islands, Gili Trawangan, Meno and lastly Gili Air where we swam with green sea turtles and angel fish.
I loved to travel before becoming a mother but now I appreciate it a million times more with my two children, we travel so we can appreciate the world more; our similarities with others and to further respect the differences, we are but one race, in one world we all call ‘Home’. I want Joshua as a child growing up in the West to respect, appreciate and adore the various cultures and religions of the World. We love and embrace everyone.
As I document my travels when my son is older he can look back and remember all the fun we had (that I was a cool AND groovy mum so when I’m old and grey he can’t deny it because the proof will be here!), it’s sort of my gift to him for his companionship through our life journey, and also for others to see that you can explore and travel the world after you’ve had children or even if you are a single mother or father, never give up on your dreams, follow your heart and mind, see the world, meet new people and spread peace. To the travellers without kids, please show your friends that do have, that it’s very possible. No more excuses.

We absolutely love traveling, this is why I decided to take Rosa with me at only four months old to travel to SEAsia. We have such a beautiful planet to explore, we want to meet other jet setting families on the road and adventure seeking kids in the next best, craziest, unique global locations. So I hope you think we are crazy enough to follow our experiences around the world!
